We love to Sing! Developing a solid vocal technique is part of every lesson and can be applied to whatever type music is enjoyed. The aim is to develop a natural, honest and individual sound. For teaching purposes, repertoire is carefully chosen according to the singer’s age, skill level and interest; and can include folk songs, light art songs, arias, and music theatre. Musicianship, ear training and sight-singing skills are developed to support a well-rounded musician. Self-confidence, poise and expressive singing are highlighted for those students interested in recital performances.

“Margaret played a major (huge) part in Joel’s voice success as it played out in the RCM exams, Kiwanis, various recitals, musical theatre awards, overall self-esteem, confidence and other multiple developments that go along with musical success. We are appreciative of this beyond the expression of words.” John T, parent of Joel: Voice, Theory and Piano student
Royal Conservatory of Music Teacher Recognition Certificate awarded for the students’ achievement as a Gold Medalist (highest exam mark in Alberta) Preparatory Voice:
Everyone suddenly burst out singing;
And I was filled with such delight
As prisoned birds must find in freedom,
Winging wildly across the white
Orchards and dark-green fields; on — on — and out of sight.
Everyone’s voice was suddenly lifted;
And beauty came like the setting sun:
My heart was shaken with tears; and horror
Drifted away… O, but Everyone
Was a bird; and the song was wordless; the singing will never be done.
Everyone Sang Siegfried Sassoon
